According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, investigators recently solved multiple burglaries that occurred on the south end of Cherokee County last month and a theft in Cedar Bluff.  Investigators worked diligently with authorities in Chattooga, Floyd, and Walker counties in Georgia to locate one of the suspects and recover some of the stolen property.  Eric Shon Burke, 41, of Summerville, Georgia, was arrested in Walker County on numerous offenses and awaits extradition to Chattooga, Floyd, and Cherokee counties.  One suspect, Carl Todd Browning, 46 of Summerville remains at large.  Both Burke and Browning are suspects in multiple burglary and theft crimes in Cherokee County.

Chief Investigator Josh Summerford stated the cooperation between investigators from Cherokee, Chattooga, Floyd, and Walker Counties, as well Cedar Bluff, made it possible to solve this multi-county crime spree.  Sheriff Shaver expressed his appreciation to the members of the community who responded to our request for tips in identifying the suspects and also requests information on the location of the wanted suspect, Carl Todd Browning.  Tips should be provided to Investigator Tony Monroy at 256-927-2581, or information may be made anonymously by calling the tip line at 256-927-9999 or via the Sheriff’s Office website http://cherokeecountyalsheriff.com/crime_tip.php
