Man Injured in Fall at Cherokee Rock Village

On Saturday, October 1, 2016, Cherokee County authorities responded to a call concerning a man injured in a fall at Cherokee Rock Village.  Witnesses reported the man jumped from one rock ledge to another, then lost his footing and fell approximately 50-80 feet into a gorge.  Cherokee Emergency Medical Service crew members, assisted by bystanders,  rescued the man  by placing him in a basket and pulling him up the vertical wall of rock.  The victim was conscious and suffered lacerations about his head and face.  He was air-lifted to a Huntsville hospital for treatment of his injuries.
