According to information released by Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a 68 year-old Spring Garden man has been arrested for first degree sexual abuse. Steven Arnold Miller was arrested late Tuesday night, September 8, 2015, by investigators with the Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit. The charge against Miller stems from an investigation of abuse of a child, which allegedly began several years ago. This case is still under investigation, and additional charges are forthcoming. Sheriff Shaver commends the investigators assigned to the Major Crimes Unit for their hard work, dedication, and ability to investigate crimes of this nature to bring offenders to justice and give victims some closure. The Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit was formed in 2014 through combined efforts from the 9th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and Centre, Leesburg, and Cedar Bluff Police Departments. The Major Crimes Unit is tasked with investigating all violent crimes, crimes against persons, missing person cases, and any case in which their assistance is requested.
