Fight After Ballgame Results in Injuries and an Arrest

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a disturbance at Gaylesville High School sent two people to a local hospital for treatment.  The incident occurred after a basketball game at approximately 8:25 pm on Thursday night, December 11.  Apparently a large fight started in the school parking lot after the game involving some juveniles from Ider and Gaylesville,  At some point a female who was attempting to break up the fight was knocked to the ground and struck her head causing injuries.  Alton Scott Durham, age 37, of Ider was arrested for his part in the fight after witnesses identified him to officers as causing injury to one of the juveniles.  Durham was charged with child abuse and placed in the Cherokee County Detention Center.
