According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the Sheriff’s Office participated in a firearms training program on Saturday that was sponsored by the Broomtown Neighborhood Watch.  Approximately twenty people were on hand to learn gun safety and receive instruction from the Sheriff’s Office firearms instructors.  The event was held at the farm of Terry and Sandra Doherty, participants were instructed in gun safety issues and then they enjoyed hands on gun experience under the guidance of trained firearms instructors.  “The attendees seem to enjoy the opportunity to learn gun safety and we enjoy providing the training and interacting with the public in a positive way,” says Sheriff Jeff Shaver.

The program on Saturday is part of a series of Firearms Safety Programs, sponsored by the Sheriff's Office and the District Attorney's Office, that have been held across the County, including at Gadsden State Community College.
