Cedar Bluff Man Charged With Arson

   A Cedar Bluff man has been arrested and charged with 2nd degree arson and harassment following a dispute with a neighbor.  According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Clarence David Vaughn, 54, of Cedar Bluff has been involved in an ongoing dispute with a neighbor for an extended period of time.  On July 8, 2014,  at approximately 3:20 p.m. firefighters with Cedar Bluff, Gaylesville, and Centre responded to a reported structure fire off Hwy 68 in Cedar Bluff. Firefighters arrived to find the fire in its early stages and were able to extinguish the blaze with minimal damage to the residence.  Cedar Bluff Police Officer Mike Howard arrived on the scene and determined the fire to be suspicious and requested the assistance of Cherokee County Fire/Arson Investigator Shawn Rogers.  Investigator Rogers responded to the scene along with Deputy State Fire Marshal Ray Cumby.  After a thorough investigation, Vaughn was charged with setting the fire.  Vaughn is currently being housed at the Cherokee County Detention center awaiting a bond hearing.
