Deputies Make Drug Arrests During Drivers License Checkpoints

   According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, driver’s license checkpoints on County Road 69 on Tuesday, May 13, resulted in 2 arrests for illegal drugs.  Around 5:00 p.m., Deputies Perea and Stepps observed a passenger throw something out of a side window while stopped at the checkpoint.  They located a small box containing methamphetamine and different types of narcotic pills.  Marijuana was also found in the man’s possession.  Ronnie Lynn Wood, age 53, of Centre was arrested and charged with 3 counts of unlawful possession of controlled substance, 2nd degree possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Later that evening Lisa Ludlow Bishop, 48, of Centre was arrested and charged with 2 counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after more than a gram of methamphetamine and several illegal pills were found in her possession.  Both Wood and Bishop were transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
