The individual being sought in connection with the manhunt reported on July, 5 2011 has been identified as Stacey Mitchell Gardner. He is a convicted felon with multiple charges and convictions for weapons, thefts, assaults, escapes and drug related offenses. Gardner has been entered on the Cherokee County Most Wanted List on charges of Attempting to Commit a Controlled Substance Crime, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Resisting Arrest and Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement Officers. He is also wanted in Dekalb County Alabama on several unrelated offenses. Gardner is considered to be potentially armed and dangerous and should not be approached or confronted in regards to this matter except by law enforcement. Anyone who has contact with or who has information as to the whereabouts of this individual is encouraged to contact the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department at (256) 927-3365 or contact E-911 as soon as possible to report the information. Gardner is described as a white male approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall with dark brown hair and is believed to have brown eyes (See Photo Attached). Since fleeing from law enforcement on July 5th, he has been reported as being seen in the areas of northern Cherokee County Alabama, the Menlo, Georgia area of Chattooga County and the Rome, Georgia area of Floyd County.
