On January 22, 2011, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Gaylesville 4-Way Stop Store was burglarized. Cartons of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco items were taken. In the following days, other convenience stores in the Chattooga County were also burglarized, and authorities arrested and charged Brandon Lamar Smith, 25, of Trion, Georgia, for those crimes. Investigator Brent Snead interviewed Smith, who admitted to the burglary in Cherokee County.
