Dustin Dutton Animal Control Officer
In April 2009 the Cherokee County Commission passed the first resolution for the establishment on a formal means of animal control. A specific portion of this resolution allowed the Sheriff to employ a full time animal control officer. This officer is responsible for handling all complaints involving domesticated animals and enforcing Alabama Laws that pertain to animal control and the care of animals. Currently, Cherokee County is utilizing a neighboring counties' animal shelter for housing of the animals.
The Animal Control Officer for Cherokee County may be contacted by calling the Sheriff's Office at 256-927-3365 ( Mon.- Fri. 8AM-4PM).
